Sodium Ocean beach III

Throwing 2-1/2 pound bricks of sodium metal into the ocean near Sutro Baths, San Francisco Summer, 1977...it was always a laugh to throw it off the "Cliff House" restaurant and hear the shouts and oohs and awwws...Did it off the bay in Sausalito too in the 1980's....same reactions...startled delight mixed with a little fear.....good clean fun (except the Na forms lye which locally raises the pH astronomically....not a good thing) Potassium metal gives a red light, and Cesium or Rubidium are so expensive and explode so fast they're not worth the money...also, try buying 2.5 lb bricks of sodium metal now & the DEA will be knocking on yer door faster than little Johnny Fuckerfaster did his thing! Unfortunately Na can be used to make drugs, plus the BATF takes a dim view on ANY types of explosions.... ;^p
