Poc-Poc

While strolling at the coast, this plant is easily overlooked. We found this kind of creeping vine mostly on the bottom of Scaevola taccada, here in Reunion called Manioc marron bord de mer (see photo stream or set).

The flower resembles a lot the real passionfruit, on wikipedia I learned that poc-poc fruits are edible too.

And from time to time we found bees visiting the flowers, they didn't seem to be scared...:))

See here:

"P. foetida is able to trap insects on its bracts, which exude a sticky substance that also contains digestive enzymes. This minimizes predation on young flowers and fruits. Whether or not it gains nourishment from its prey is uncertain, and it is currently considered a protocarnivorous plant."
