Stranger #8
I'd seen Hubert once before. It was on the large field behind the school we live near. I thought he was planting seeds. He'd take a few large measured steps and then reach into a box he was carrying and bend over and put something in the hole he'd created with his heel. He did it in a large patter like formation. I though it was odd but chalked it up to some sort of guerrilla gardening project.
I saw him again today and thought he'd make for an interesting portrait and conversation. I really wanted to know what he was planting. Turns out, I missed the second half of things. Hubert was putting down dog treats. He had a large German Shepherd in the car. They take part is some kind of dog handling contest based around tracking and controlling the dog. Interesting stuff and now I know.
I managed to have this conversation with all four kids in tow. The youngest one was hanging out via the Bjorn which allows him to add his own artistic flair to some shots by yanking the camera straps at odd moments. Kids actually might help make me less intimidating to strangers. Although I've yet to be turned down.
