Maui Milky Way

The milky way arcs over two trees at the south Maui nature preserve called La Perouse. I'm not an astonomer but I believe you can also see Andromeda near the top of the frame. The light between the trees is coming from the Wailea resort community to the north. Its ironic that light from our relatively tiny civilization can mask the light from the rest of galaxy and beyond - so I always find it compelling to see these light sources in one image and think about the relative scale of things.
