The Edge

Dettifoss, the largest waterfall in Iceland, is so big its hard to capture the scale and power of the thing - it is both awe-inspiring and frightening as you can walk right up the edge as close as you dare - no safety ropes, fences etc in wild Iceland! I shot from an angle that would show the width of the river leading up to falls and when a fellow photographer shooting VERY close to the edge got into the shot I was happy to include him as a reference - I was only a couple feet from the edge myself. In a sense finding the "edge" is what we try to do as photographers - we want to get close enough to feel part of the scene and yet stay far enough away so we can convey what we saw and felt via the camera lens, and not be consumed by the scene!
