The bridges at Mandalay
The British in 1932 -36 built the first bridge over the Irrawaddy down river from Manadalay. This is known as the Ava Bridge, two spans of this bridge were demolished by the British to deny use to the Japanese during the war, it was repaired in 1952.
A second bridge, the Sagaing Bridge was built by the Chinese in 2004. This is a four lane rail and road bridge.
