Early evening and arriving in Mandalay

After two days on the slow ferry to Mandalay we arrive in the dock that serves the city, the light was just about perfect and the scene very atmospheric. Sometimes luck does play the big role, being at the right place, at the right time with the great light.

The smoke in the foreground comes from a big diesel engine that was part of a dredging operation to keep the dock open, the river is of major importance as a means of trade but is not without its problems, at this time of the year the water level is very low so that running aground is a real problem for the boats the ply this stretch of he water, we were suck of a while as we headed off from Bhamo at the start of the trip.
