Porcupine

This is one of several (also posted) where I wanted to do some "product" style photos but with a bit more control over lighting and style. This is what is called "Alebrije" which is a style of handcrafts originating from central Mexico (think Oaxaca). There are many different styles of animals, both real and not, but I love the porcupines! :)

Just to give you an idea on size, those are toothpicks.

Strobist: 70w (equivalent of 350w) white light above camera a bit left. 430ex flash with homemade snoot shot across the back of the background to create a bit of a wavy feel..almost like air flowing over the spines.
