Wild Kea on the Glacier
Saw this native bird (the worlds only alpine parrot) of New Zealand on the Franz Josef Glacier. The tongue of this glacier is surrounded by rain forest on both sides and occassionally these birds (essentially they are parrots) will fly up onto the ice. Keas are very unafraid of people - this one was only a few feet away from me.
