Mission San Juan Bautista (San Juan Bautista, California)
The mission was founded in 1797 by Fr. Fermin Lasuen who also built the first church a year later. Construction started on the present church started in 1803 and completed with its dedication in 1812. The church was damaged during the 1906 earthquake and was restored from 1949 until 1950. Mission San Juan Bautista is the largest of the California Missions and was the location of the Alfred Hitchcock film "Vertigo" (December 2010).
