John is a very talented photographer and very passionate about the fate of the Rhinoceros and it's continuous unnessessary slaughter in the wild. As you can see by his Avatar.

I chose this phenomenal water droplet with refraction image with much difficulty, because Brian has an enormous library of equally brilliant shots of this nature. I liked the fact that this one not only has the gorgeous rose refractions but the little springtail stepping between the mine field of droplets adds a little extra interest to the image.
Brian is probably one of the best known masters of macro photography on flickr. His technique is flawless and consistently perfect. He is very prolific in his posting but has always found time to give me sound advice on equipment and macro techniques. I am very happy to be one of his contacts after several months of following his work.

The timing, the selective focus and the details are amazing in this macro shot. Like some fancy sports car with gull wing doors. The level of detail in the wings is fabulous, the textures in the rocks wonderful, love this image.
I love Paulines attitude to the world of macro photography, she aproaches it with a zeal and enthusiasm that it wonderful to be a part of. I enjoy her descriptions of many of the insects like "Beetle Thingy" for instance. She is a brilliant macro photographer and her pashion shines through her work.

When I first saw this shot I immediately thought of the ugly sisters in the Cinderella story. Even so these chicks are very charming and Bill has captured something quite special here. The details are excellent and the expressions in their eyes is priceless.

When I first saw this image my comment was that I thought it was a work of art. The almost monotone aspect of the image and high key lighting is superb. I love the subtle reflections and the sleek outlines of these icons of the wild lakes and ponds of the North country.
Mark is a brilliant wild life photographer and his work could grace the covers and contents of the most sought after books on nature.

I was blown away by this simple looking subject by the amazing detail in those tiny eyes and the veins and cells in the leaf magnified by the water dropets. As per my original comments on this shot, you really get a sense of what it is like in the world of insects from their perspectiv in this image. A droplet of water to us is a huge puddle or pond to them.
Murray is a recent contact of mine but has already given me lots of tips and advice on macro photography in his own time. I appreciate help from class photographers like Murray and many of my friends on Flickr. Murray has an astounding port folio of macro work among many other types of photography and his photostream is well worth a visit as are all of my contacts featured in this set.
