Eyelash Viper
One of the snakes I most wanted to see and photograph in Costa Rica was the Eyelash Viper, so named for the small superciliary scales above the eyes that look like eyelashes. Although venomous, it is not an aggressive snake, and hunts for its small prey at night. In the day, it can be found hiding in trees, shrubs. It has a wide range of color variation, thought to provide camouflage in its arboreal habitat.
