Rama Leela Theatre Play 2020

As part of the celebration of Gurudev's Appearance Day, a play about Lord Rama's life was presented to Gurudev and guests. The beautiful background projections of palaces, gardens and forests gave a real sense of 'being there' to the entire production, but it surely was the very lifelike 10-headed Ravana projection that was the best of them all. With narrations throughout telling the entire story, it was up to the actors to present the action involved, including Rama's triumph at Sita's swayamvara, Sita's kidnapping, an entire monkey army, and a battle scene. The entire performance was dramatic and touching, and a fitting end to a lovely day of celebration.

The large cast consisted of The Ashram Residents plus a few guests as well, and was extraordinary in that it took only four days to pull together. Gurudev praised the effort and that it was the 'willingness to do something for God, not for themselves', that made it so special.
