Rising Star Rodeo Parade 1970
During my younger days, my home town of Rising Star, TX, would have a rodeo every Friday night during the summer months. They would have a parade through downtown (all two blocks of it) at the beginning of the rodeo season, and this was the one they had in 1970. It gave the locals a chance to ride their horses downtown, and a pretty good number of them were honest-to-god cowboys for whom riding horses was just something they did. Exxon was known as Enco at the time, and the lead cowboy here was carrying a 48-star flag. Hardly anybody lives in Rising Star anymore, and they no longer have a rodeo at all, let alone every week.
