Newborn Rat Snake
This is at the nature center in Brazos Bend State Park. They have a pair of Texas rat snakes on display in the center, and the two snakes played hanky-panky together. This was part of the result, approximately 15 fertilized eggs. The head ranger decided only seven were actually viable, and this was the second one to poke its head out of its shell. It kept doing this most of the day and never actually followed through. We all figured it would probably happen tonight, after the A/C was off and the temperature inside the center got warm enough.
