Resting on the Box
This mountain lion is resting on a red box decorated with a white University of Houston logo. The UH athletic teams are called the Cougars. I asked one of the keepers about it, and he told me that the box contained the class rings about to be distributed to the latest crop of UH seniors. I guess by resting on the box, the cat somehow imbues the rings with some kind of magical powers or something. Or, maybe it's just a silly college tradition, the sort of thing every college and university I know of has at least one or two.
