Scenery in the Needles Division of Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park has three divisions: Islands in the Sky, The Needles, and The Maze. Islands in the Sky gets the most visitors, and The Maze the fewest. Though very different from each other, all the divisions were formed by erosion by the rivers running through the area - the Green River from the north and the Colorado River from the east - and their tributaries.
This area of Utah is on the Colorado Plateau, which has many national parks, including five in Utah alone; several national monuments; and at least one tribal park, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Truly, a spectacular and geologically unique part of the world.
