Hip Santa

Costumed actor at the Dickens on the Strand festival in Galveston, Texas

Before being practically wiped out by a hurricane in 1900, Galveston was the largest city in Texas and took the name of Strand Street from the street of the same name in London, England. Galveston had strong economic ties to the UK at the time and celebrates that heritage every year in December with this festival. Festival attendees are encouraged to come in 19th century costume, and a character from Charles Dickens is all the better. Santa's OK, too...
