New Horseshoe Lake
New Horseshoe Lake was formed by the cutting off of a bend in Big Creek, which flows just out of sight to the right of the image. To the left, also out of sight, is Old Horseshoe Lake, an older lake formed by the same process.
Old Horseshoe is mostly dry, although it occasionally catches some water during heavy rains. It is gradually turning into a meadow, and the same fate awaits New Horseshoe.
