Hummer Chicken
Antique Windmill at the Windmill Farm
The Windmill Farm is on land near Tolar, Texas. The place has a Bed & Breakfast, and the owner has a thing for old windmills. Every windmill has a number, and the owner has researched the history of every one and produced a four-page circular describing each one.
The Hummer was made by the Elgin Windmill and Pump Company of Elgin, Indiana, circa 1900. The red ball is a counterweight for the blade mechanism, and the company added the chicken for decoration, thinking it may help sell a few windmills.
