Antique Windmill at the Windmill Farm
The Windmill Farm is on land near Tolar, Texas. The place has a Bed & Breakfast, and the owner has a thing for old windmills, many of which he has set up on his land. Every windmill has a number, and he has researched the history of every one and produced a four-page circular describing them.
Produced between 1892 and 1910 by the Stover Manufacturing and Engine Company, this windmill was the first all-steel machine made by Stover. Heavy and solid, it survived a lot of Texas weather.
Windmill #19 (the short one) was produced by the Elgin Windmill Company in Elgin, Indiana. It was the first production mill that did not have to be oiled or greased periodically. As such, it changed windmill design and is historically significant.
