What the Navigator Sees

Taken through the nose from near the navigator's position in a Boeing B-29 Superfortress. The pilot's seat is on the left and the copilot's on the right. A Norden bombsight, one of the U.S. military's top secrets in World War II, is visible at the center of the image.

The navigator actually sat behind a bulkhead and wouldn't see this while at his station. But if he stood up and took a step to his right, he could see this and pass through the bulkhead toward the front of the plane. The radio operator sat to the navigator's right behind a similar bulkhead.
