Statue and grave marker of Stephen F. Austin, who is regarded as the Father of Texas due to his bringing 300 American settlers to Texas in the 1820s. Austin died in 1836 and was originally buried at Peach Point Plantation in Brazoria County, Texas, near his original headquarters. His body was reinterred in the Texas State Cemetery many years later.
