Royal Gorge
Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Arkansas, the Royal Gorge has a maximum depth of 1260 ft. (380 m) and is only 50 ft. (15 m) wide at the narrowest part of its base. Nevertheless, the Denver and Rio Grande Railway laid a railroad through the gorge, and tourist trains make daily runs through it. The city of Canon City, Colorado, operates a park on the rim of the gorge, charging admission to cross a suspension bridge, ride an aerial tram across the gorge, and other attractions.
