La Pistolera

North American P-51 Mustang (or maybe I should say F-51)

The 'USAF' painted on the wing means this paint job is meant to represent something from the late 1940s or early 1950s, possibly the Korean War timeframe. The U.S. Air Force was established in 1947. In addition, the red stripe beside the star didn't make its appearance until after World War II.

Although the jet-powered F-80 had begun to show up in some numbers in the USAF by 1950, the F-51 was still a frontline fighter at the beginning of the Korean War. As that war went on, the F-51 was used mostly in the ground attack role, as the Soviet MiG-15 badly outclassed it in air-to-air combat.
