Guard Tower at Manzanar
A reconstructed guard tower at the Manzanar relocation camp near Lone Pine, CA. The U.S. government required all people of Japanese ancestry living in the states on the west coast - about 110000 in all - to move to camps like the one at Manzanar during World War II. Manzanar housed around 10000 people, most of whom came from the Los Angeles area.
