Galveston Architecture

Downtown Galveston has a number of ornate, Victorian-era buildings like this one. For that reason, they have an annual festival called Dickens on the Strand to commemorate their past. They also do it to have a lot of fun. They encourage visitors to wear Victorian costumes, although I've seen people dressed as SNL coneheads, a W.C. Fields impersonator, a World War I German soldier, 16th century pirates, steampunks, you name it. It makes for some great people watching.
