Tower Guards
Men dressed as yeoman warders (aka 'beefeaters') at the Dickens on the Strand festival in Galveston, TX. The yeoman warders' job is to guard the Tower of London. The letters on the front of their costumes refer to the monarch at the time, e.g., 'E R' would refer to 'Elizabeth Regina', or 'Elizabeth the Queen'. Some of these guys' costumes have 'H R', which I presume stands for 'Henry Regina' (or maybe 'Henry Regino' - I'm not up on my Latin genders), or 'Henry the King'. Either way, it's an anachronism, as the Dickens on the Strand festival celebrates Victorian London in the time of Charles Dickens. For authenticity, their costumes should have 'V R'.
