Laetiporus sulphureus.....chicken of the woods
this is the "Chicken-of-the woods" fungus...Laetiporus sulphureus... I was given a new book for my birthday on "Mushrooms of Ontario and Eastern Canada"....just what I wanted....so I could identify this myself. It is the only bracket fungus in this area that is edible, according to the book....however I have NO intention of trying it! It was the only one I saw...it was glowing from a distance...far too beautiful to consider harming it...and I am the chicken !
