Banded demoiselle

Also known as Calopteryx splendens. We found a whole bunch of them sitting on bushes next to a slow-flowing canal in Kottingbrunn, Lower Austria. In the evening these damselflys are apparently tired and love to just sit around, occasionally stretching their wings. When they fly up they like to return to the same place, so it is easy to ambush them with the camera. I didn't have a macro lens with me, but then I would probably have had to get too close anyway. The 100-400 mm Nikon-Z lens can be focused quite closely and ensures that you can keep the necessary distance.
