Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly
The Canyon de Chelly (pronounced 'də-shay') is located in northeastern Arizona, within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation. The Spider Rock is a sandstone twin-spire that rises about 230 m (750 feet) from the canyon floor.
Canyon de Chelly is one of the most visited national monuments of the United States. In March, however, we were pretty much alone there. We waited for the sunset, because then the Spider Rock stands out well against the shady canyon walls.
