Tomcod
Common Yellowthroat
This female Common Yellowthroat is not so common in Newfoundland . In fact, it's very difficult to find, so Dave (Hawkman2007) and I set out to find our elusive bird. We had heard about sightings in "Warbler Alley", When we arrived I discovered what a tough place it is to photograph - the path is a rocky slippery stream all up hill, totally overgrown with alders and tree-falls. As we navigated the trail, we sighted many different juvenile warblers, but no yellowthroat. After two hours, we called it quits and headed for our vehicle . No sooner had we reached a clearing close to the car, this beautiful bird appeared. A stroke of luck, but as I always say - you make your own luck ! Now, we have to find the male yellowthroat, but that's for another day.
