Donkey thoughts
The story goes that the Spaniards brought donkeys to Bonaire to assist with salt production. When donkeys were no longer needed, they went feral on the island. They are now controversial. To some they damage the environment, eating native plants and preventing reforestation. To others, they are a part of history, not to mention adorable and gentle animals.
This donkey was all alone on a vast Salina. My camera is practically sitting on the ground because I wanted to get the separation betwen the brown donkey and the surrounding terrain. Fortunately, the donkey just watched me as I did my thing. To me the clouds look like those "thought clouds" in cartoons. If so, this donkey has a lot on its mind.
