All along the watchtower
Taken for the Music to your Ears assignment for the Active Assignment Weekly group.
Headed to Happisburgh on the Norfolk coastline with a good mate over the weekend specifically to shoot this lighthouse. Trip was a bit mixed, the place had an eerie vibe about it, but at least I came away with a few decent shots. This scene of the lighthouse on the hill reminds me of "All Along the Watchtower" (more the title than what the song was about). Originally by Bob Dylan, I first heard this song when it was covered by one of my favourite bands, U2. I find it a bit of an eerie song, and this scene is similarly eerie to me (it looks like an army of wheat stalks worshipping their watchtower master).
This was a 3 exposure hdr, taken at sunset. Slightly desaturated the colours and messed about with curves and levels in CS3.
An excerpt from the song:
All along the watchtower,
Princes kept the view,
While all the women came and went,
Barefoot servants too.
Outside in the cold distance,
A wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching,
And the wind began to howl.
Canon EOS10D, 17-40mm @ 19mm, f/16, 0.5s (-1,0,+1EV), ISO100.
