The Ritz public house 143-147 High Street, Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

 

Designed in 1937 by architect Leslie C Norton of London for Central Picture Theatres (Lincoln). Cinema with circle and stalls, seating 1600. Opened in February 1937 as the Ritz, in 1956 renamed the Odeon, after acquisition by the Rank Organisation, until 1981 and closure. 1985

 

it reopened as the Ritz and it doubled as a concert venue until the late 1980s/early 1990s when the stalls were divided resulting in a 3-screen cinema. Closed as cinema in January 1998. May 1998, Ritz Public House operated by J D Wetherspoon. 143-146 were shops on High Street frontage until conversion into the public house. Under restoration from 2008, reopening in 2012.
