Kungsparken a park which surrounds Malmöhus Castle, in Malmö the capital of Scania, Øresund, Sweden.
Before the Palace Park was created, the site was a military training area for the Crown Prince's house rules. One would create a large cohesive green area on the left-hand land. In 1896 a large exhibition and exhibition in Malmö was organized and in connection with the exhibition, a smaller planting was done along Fersen's road. After the exhibition, it was decided that all old military land would be converted into park area. One turned to Danish landscape architect Edvard Glæsel. Glory's proposal was to transform the swampy military field into a park for all ages and social classes inspired by US landscape architect Olmsted. The work of the castle park began in 1897 and the park opened in 1900. The castle park has a total area of 21 hectares, comprising large forest areas and open grass areas, toboggan runs, lookouts and a variety of seating.
In the central part of the park at the larger pond, since 1950, the statue " Man and Pegasus " has been created by Carl Milles, which will symbolize the free thought. Along the canal you will find the statue "Landscape girl" created by the Swedish artist Gerhard Henning.
The heart of the park is the Saturday plan, which is used today for concerts and other events. It has an area of 2,500 square meters in a beautiful lawn and is a suitable place for big parties. 1985-1987 the park was raging down the canal. One had to replace all the rails and supply them with new rails.
The cart was also in need of refurbishment. In 1988, the little Japanese garden was restored, which was founded by city gardener Birger Myllenberg. The little dam needed a refurbishment during the 1980s. The environment was getting worse. A renovation and the renewal was carried out 1991-1992 inspired by rockeries, which were often part of the early 20th century city parks. Stones, plants, and water in new combinations became the basic idea of the concept developed by the artist Helge Lundström. A small, white-flowered garden and many unusual pines have also been added to the plant. During winters the little pond is adorned with fine light decorations.
