The 2014 Lincoln West End Lights, an annual event held in December where ordinary people do something quite extraordinary.
As the lights dim throughout the city, local residents light up their streets with lanterns, created light sculptures that floated from trees, turned the front of our homes into film screens and illuminated our streets with lights, pictures, moving shadows and short films that delighted residents and enchanted surprised passers-by.
Shown at over 45 different locations across 17 streets, thanks to the ingenuity, warmth and willingness of individuals and families to take a simple idea and make it their own.
First started in Lincoln’s West End in 2009 the event has since spread across the city, to Spalding and beyond. In 2013 it helped inspire a magical night of flickering film in the windows of houses in South London - part of the New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival.
