Danes Terrace is a medieval street dating from 1150. In 1314 it was named Le boulstak ("bulls stake"). By the 19th century the name had changed to Bull-ring Lane / Bullring Terrace.
The name originated due to Bull-baiting still being practised in Lincoln until 1827 close to the corner of Danes Terrace with Steep Hill. It was renamed Danes Terrace in 1857 and numbers 2,4,6 and 8 were demolished in 1939.
