Crown of lights
A rising Orion creates a halo around Balanced Rock, which looks a little bit like an alien, if you ask me.
This was taken a couple of nights before my Giant Skies Panorama Photography Workshop last week. Good times, and thanks to those of you who a) came out for the workshop and b) just happen to be reading this description.
I've really grown to enjoy night photography in the winter, which isn't exactly the traditional night photography season, at least in my area of the northern hemisphere anyway. The skies are usually clear, the weather is cool or cold, and, most importantly, NOBODY'S OUT AT NIGHT.
I think this is the very first 2:1 vertical crop that I've ever published. I do enjoy this nearly 180-degree vertical view, so maybe I'll do a few more.
