Bamburgh Sunrise

After leaving Nottingham at 2.55am and a gruelling 3 hour 40 minute journey, I finally arrived at Bamburgh. In fact, the sunrise was already happening as I pulled up into the small car park at Budle Bay. I am glad the car park was free, because I would have had no time to get a ticket. I literally grabbed my camera gear, ran down the dunes and across the beach. With my eyes watering from the contrast between the heat from my car and the cool sea air, I tried to find a workable composition and establish correct focus and exposure. After 15 minutes of frantic work in the favourable lighting conditions, my first mission of the day was over, with some decent images of Bamburgh Castle in the bag.
