Art as Mindfulness Project - Art as Expression II

When I Arrive, Will You Come And Find Me

This photo is for the exhibition, Art as Expression II.

Launching today at Mindful Cove, the exhibition is part of the Art as Mindfulness Project, curated by the talented, Ella Pavolna.

The photo assignment was to marry music & emotion into a photo taken at the Mindful Cove sim.

We were given free rein in however we wished to convey these sentiments, as long as the lead reflected the chosen musical piece.

I've picked Thom Yorke's Suspirium, a haunting score for the remake of the 1970s cult horror film, Suspiria .

Yorke's chilling voice sings the lyrics: "“All is well, as long as we keep spinning,” a line that's always made me think and perhaps, overthink many times, too.

The logic of spinning in this case refers to the movie's ballet/body movement themes but there are, but, of course, many ways to read into these words as subjectively as one may desire.

In my head, these simple but profound words read life and how carrying on with it is all that really matters most times.

The point is to live (and find meaning to live) till you reach the very end.

There is a haunting loop to the piano recital that also reinforces an idea of cycles and momentum — sentiments to perhaps convey life's good and bad.

The tempo is steady and it picks up, shifting from a major into a minor key, which again, is life in general for even the best of us.

The song title takes its meaning from the word, suspirious (meaning: To breathe heavily, somewhat sigh-like).

Breathing, depending on the state of it, keeps us alive.

Breathing can also calm our minds and our souls more than our hearts can.

A sigh can be heavy as much as it can be a relief, too.
