62058 at Durham

York's K1 2-6-0 62058, with a down mixed freight rolls through Durham on a chilly April day 1961. The station bays seen here are all now car parking. Durham, then could not only boast a fine signal gantry at south end of the station but some rather remarkable telegraph poles to the extreme right! The 'battlements' above the engine tender were in Wharton Park, a public area great for viewing the viaduct and train spotting.
