Too Close For Comfort

MINI SERIES:

I'm a member of the non-profit society, The Barbados Photographic Society. Part of our activities for members includes having field trips for members to go around the island exploring. Sometimes, our field trips veer off into strange territory....

We were on our way up North earlier this year when we caught a huge (trust me, not an exaggeration) plume of thick black smoke coming in from the local landfill, specifically the old rubber tires. Being adventurous, we decided to get upwind of the smoke and stop for a few shots in before heading to our actual destination.

Don't worry, this story ends well. The local fire service were on hand and there were lots of people waiting to give a hand. Plus we were totally safe from both fire and smoke.

We decided to get off the road (where we were in the last shot). And we went inside the landfill. There were a few staff members inside but they left us alone. I saw this one guy standing near the plume but not directly in the path. You can get an idea of how big it was.

To all of you, hope you enjoy the weekend and have an awesome week ahead, wherever you are!
