Chest tomb and effigy of Frederick Cavendish, Cartmel Priory Church, Cumbria
Frederick Cavendish, the son of the 7th Earl of Devonshire, was Chief Secretary for Ireland in Gladstone's government and was assassinated by Irish extremists in Dublin in 1882. His beautiful tomb lies in Cartmel Priory Church, thought by some to be the finest church in the north-west of England. It is Grade I-listed.
