The coast at Looe, Cornwall
I first visited Looe with my parents in the mid-1950s, and then again in the early 60s when a school chum and I cycled round the south-west, staying at youth hostels. After that I visited Looe most years, eventually buying a holiday home just outside the town. A dozen or so years later, when Cornwall attracted more visitors than ever after Covid, Judy and I decided to move somewhere much quieter, and bought a place on the Lancashire/Cumbria border. The countryside is beautiful and we are within just a short drive of both the Lakes and the Dales. But I still have photos like this, taken on one of the last visits to our old holiday home, to remind me of the many happy years we spent in Cornwall.
