Lyme Regis - the Cobb harbour

There has been a harbour associated with The Cobb at Lyme Regis for over 700 years. At one point Lyme Regis was more important than Liverpool, but then the increasing size of ships reduced its usefulness, and today the harbour - which virtually dries out at low tide - is just used by small boats and a number of fishing boats.
