Sandy beach at East Looe, Cornwall
Another shot from last year's archives. I'm afraid that when we get to July it's quite possible that Looe in south-east Cornwall will not be looking quite the same. This is the sandy beach at East Looe, where I played as a child on my first visit to Cornwall with my parents in the mid-1950s.
West Looe, on the other side of the Looe River (behind the camera) is much the smaller of the former twin towns. At low tide a large rock shelf is revealed along the West Looe seafront with individual tiny sandy beaches at its edge. Numerous rock pools are also formed. This is the quieter of the two places and there are numerous seats along the small cliff-top, providing a peaceful view of Looe Bay and the Cornish coast.
