Reflections of West Looe, Cornwall
At low tide the river at Looe in south-east Cornwall virtually empties out, leaving puddles plus a very narrow channel on the east side of the river. I first came here with my parents more than 60 years ago, and have been coming back ever since. Although it is now a busy holiday resort it still retains its charm. There are several cafes and restaurants along the riverside when you can sit and spend a pleasant hour or two, watching the world go by. Looe has a large fish market on the east bank of the river, and retains an important fishing industry. All the fishing boats are day boats - going out and returning the same day. East Looe and West Looe (seen here) were once separate towns divided by the Looe River. But the towns were amalgamated over 100 years ago.
