The Cobb at Lyme Regis, Dorset

We called in at Lyme Regis in the far west of Dorset on our way back from Cornwall, and walked around the medieval harbour wall known as the Cobb. It was re-clad in Portland stone back in the middle of the 19th century. Several others had gathered at the end of the Cobb to look across Lyme Bay and view the famous fossil-bearing cliffs, the tops of which had become covered in low cloud. The cliffs are among the highest on the south coast of England.
