Mevagissey, Cornwall
Photographed from up on Polkirt Hill, the beautiful traditional fishing village of Mevagissey lies in a valley on the south coast of Cornwall. Several dozen fishing boats are based here, along with yachts and pleasure craft of varying shapes and sizes. An inner harbour has been here since the medieval period, and the outer harbour was constructed towards the end of the 19th century. Mevagissey was one of the first places in the country to have electric street lighting, with the generator powered by pilchard oil.
